Zurek was a two-sport coach at Purdue University Calumet, serving as the head coach for both the women’s basketball and volleyball teams from 1985 to 1990 before focusing solely on volleyball from 1994 to 1997. She finished up her career as the volleyball program’s all-time leader in wins, racking up 200 victories. Zurek also owns the top five season win totals in volleyball program history, including a pair of 30-win campaigns. She was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1996 and helped guide Purdue Calumet to several NAIA District Playoff appearances. She coached three NAIA All-Americans (two basketball and one volleyball), all of whom are Purdue Calumet Athletic Hall of Fame members as well.
