Cordova re-wrote the record books for the cross country team during his time at Purdue Northwest. Cordova became the second runner in PNW history to qualify for the NAIA National Championships after finishing 15th at the CCAC Championships and was Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup National Semifinalist in 2018. He previously held the men's 8K record at 26.10 and is still in the Top 10 for PNW. He competed in over 25 meets for the men's cross country program and helped jump start the program. He served as the Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years where he created a campus-wide initiative for sexual assault awareness, via ITsOnUs Campaign (Handprints for Hope). He collaborated with Multicultural Campus Council, Purdue University Northwest Police Department, Office of Dean of Students, Counseling Center, and campaigned on two campuses for students and staff to take pledge to end sexual assault. Campaigned over a two-day period with over 450 participants. He also was the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Liaison to Association of Student Athletes for two years where he collaborated with student athletes across the NAIA to build better student athlete well-being at a national level and selected to participate at the NAIA National Convention on behalf of PNW in 2017 alongside 30 other student athletes that make up the Association of Student Athletes (ASA). Sal is also the current Assistant Director for Student Life, Programming and Administration at Purdue University Northwest and served previously as the Graduate Assistant for Academic Services for the PNW Pride.
