Pride stay alive in GLIAC Tournament as they take down Parkside 9-7

Box Score This Friday the Purdue Northwest took on Wisconsin Parkside in a crucial GLIAC Tournament elimination game where the Pride would stay alive and take down the Rangers by a score of 9-7.

The Breakdown
•    Hayden Matulich (San Jose, Calif./Pioneer) led the Pride with four hits and four RBIs.
•    Drake Ballard (Louisville, Ky./Martha Laynes Collins) also had a big game with three hits and three RBIs.
•    Ben Cash (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) started on the mound for Purdue Northwest throwing three innings while striking out two.
•    E. Ferreira led Parkside with three hits and two RBIs.
•    K. Schulist started and threw one inning for the Rangers.
•    Purdue Northwest took an early lead in the 2nd inning, capitalizing on some unearned runs. Ballard's single to the pitcher drove in Smith, setting the tone for the game. Jones followed up with a powerful double to left field, bringing in two more runs, courtesy of Mangano and Ballard. Matulich sealed the inning with a double to left field, adding two more runs to the board.
•    Parkside fought back in the 2nd inning with some impressive plays of their own. A single to second base allowed a run to score, narrowing the gap. A sacrifice fly and ground out added two more runs, bringing Parkside within one run.
•    The Pride didn't let up, continuing to extend their lead in the 3rd inning. Ballard's double to right field brought in two more runs, followed by Matulich's single to center field, adding another run to their tally.
•    Parkside refused to back down, mounting a comeback effort in the 4th and 7th innings. A walk and double down the left field line brought in a total of four runs, closing the gap to just two runs.
•    However, Purdue Northwest held strong, with Matulich's double down the left field line in the 5th inning adding an insurance run.
•    Despite Parkside's late efforts, it wasn't enough to overcome Purdue Northwest's early lead, resulting in a hard-fought victory for the Pride.
