The Breakdown
Game 1: L (11-0) - 7 Innings
  • Denham Kozy (Munster, Ind./Munster) and Brett Bounds (Morris, Ill./Morris Community) each recorded hits for the Pride, while Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) added a hit as well to round out Purdue Northwest's three-hit effort.
  • Ben Cash (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) got the start on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits over 4.0 innings while striking out two. Dylan McGee (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) and Colin Pfeifer (Morris, Ill./Morris Community) came on in relief as Davenport pulled away late.
  • Davenport struck first in the opening inning, using an RBI single to take an early lead. They added another run in the fourth to make it 2-0 before breaking the game open in the fifth inning. A seven-run outburst, highlighted by multiple extra-base hits and capitalizing on a defensive error, extended the lead to 9-0.
  • The Panthers added two more runs in the sixth inning to bring the score to 11-0. Purdue Northwest was unable to generate offense, stranding runners early and finishing with just three hits as Davenport's pitching staff controlled the game throughout.
Game 2: L (9-5) – 9 Innings
  • Drew Kosteba (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) led the Pride offensively with a 3-for-5 performance, including a triple and three RBIs. Denham Kozy (Munster, Ind./Munster) added two hits, including a double and an RBI, while Owen Winters (Kouts, Ind./Kouts) contributed an RBI.
  • Preston Burton (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs over 4.0 innings of work. Owen Walkowiak (Crown Point, Ind./Andrean) provided relief, tossing the final four innings.
  • Purdue Northwest struck first in the opening inning as Kozy delivered an RBI double to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Davenport responded quickly, tying the game with a solo home run before adding another run in the second to take a 2-1 advantage.
  • The Pride regained control in the fifth inning, scoring three runs behind a two-RBI triple from Kosteba and an RBI single from Winters to go up 4-2. However, Davenport answered immediately with a five-run inning, fueled by timely hitting and extra-base hits, to reclaim the lead at 7-4.
  • Davenport extended its lead with runs in the seventh and eighth innings, including a solo home run, to make it 9-4. Purdue Northwest added a run in the ninth on an RBI single from Kosteba, but the comeback fell short as Davenport secured the 9-5 victory.
