Baseball Defeated by Northwood

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest baseball team suffered a setback Sunday as they fell in a home matchup with the Northwood Timberwolves in the final game of the weekend series. Dakota Roberts picked up the win for NU while Alex Batistatos took the loss, his first of the season.

The Timberwolves got the scoring started in the second inning, as they put up three runs including an RBI triple from Keaton Sackett. Sackett was at it again in the third inning as he doubled home a pair of RBI, and NU would tack on four more runs in the fourth inning as the score ballooned to 9-0.

PNW did have one positive offensive inning, as Brett Veltema knocked in a pair of runs with a double into right-center field. Conner Hoffman then drove in Veltema on a single into right field.

Those would be the final runs of the day for PNW, as NU piled on with eight runs in the sixth inning and won by a wide margin of 20-3.

The Pride will host a non-conference matchup against Lewis University on Thursday, Mar. 28 at Dowling Park. First pitch for that game will be 1 p.m.
