Strong Performances Highlight Busy Weekend for PNW Track & Field

The Purdue Northwest Track and Field team had an action-packed weekend as they competed at the Chicagoland Championships and the Indiana Tech Open on April 4th and 5th. Once again, the Pride had a strong showing with multiple top finishes between the two meets.

The Basics:
  • Location: Elmhurst, IL and Fort Wayne, IN

  • The Chicagoland Championships was a two-day event.
Notable Men's Results
Chicagoland Championships
  • Men's 100m: Kalen Cummings (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) came in 21st, clocking a time of 11.16.
  • Men's 200m: Ryan Coleman (Lansing, Ill./Thornton Fractional South) recorded a 36th-place finish with a time of 23.42
  • Men's 400m: Carson Bell (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) secured 3rd overall with a time of 49.23, while Michale Golston (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) grabbed 6th in 50.26, and Alex Simmons (Villa Park, Ill./Willowbrook) landed in 15th at 51.47.
  • Men's 800m: Josh Tuck (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) crossed the line in 33rd with a time of 2:01.78, followed by Hayden Podlin (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) in 39th at 2:03.04.
  • Men's 1500m: Josh Tuck (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) took 40th with a time of 4:15.27, and James Snow ended up 43rd after running 4:17.04.
  • Men's 5000m: Rafael Maier (Portage, Ind./Portage) placed 31st in 16:22.93, just ahead of Brandan Bagnara (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest), who earned 32nd with a time of 16:27.83.
  • Men's 10,000m: Jackson Bakker (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) raced to a 3rd-place finish, posting an impressive time of 31:48.06.
  • Men's 110m Hurdles: Kyden Boyer (Marshal, Ill.) claimed 5th in the finals with a time of 15.84 after qualifying 4th in the prelims.
  • Men's 400m Hurdles: Kyden Boyer (Marshal, Ill.) registered a 12th-place finish, running 58.60.
  • Men's High Jump: Eli Baumann (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) cleared 1.94m (6' 4.25") to earn 2nd place in the event.
  • Men's Pole Vault: CJ Brooks vaulted his way to 4th place with a mark of 4.35m (14' 3.25").
  • Men's Long Jump: Jamon Miller (Michigan City, Ind.) reached 18th overall, jumping 6.01m (19' 8.75").
  • Men's Triple Jump: Lucas Bass (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland) locked in 4th place with a leap of 13.56m (44' 6"), while Andre Taylor (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Lakes) finished 7th with a mark of 13.35m (43' 9.75").

Indiana Tech Open
  • Men's Shot Put: Christopher Poole (/) delivered a strong showing, placing 11th overall with a throw of 11.81m (38' 9"). 
  • Men's Discus Throw: Christopher Poole (/) earned a 15th-place finish with a solid toss of 34.01m (111' 7"). 
  • Men's Javelin Throw: Christopher Poole (/) came away with a standout 3rd-place performance, launching the javelin 46.53m (152' 8").
 
Notable Women's Results
Chicagoland Championships
  • Women's 100m: Chisom Chukwuocha (Indianapolis, Ind.) clocked in at 12.79 seconds, placing 14th overall.
  • Women's 200m: Carley Grabarczyk (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) ran a time of 27.07 seconds to finish 29th.
  • Women's 400m: Jerralee Testa (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Asby) posted a strong time of 1:01.69, good for 18th place.
  • Women's 800m: Sara McGraw (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) claimed 11th place with a time of 2:20.39.
  • Women's 1500m: Sara McGraw (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) earned a 14th-place finish, running 4:55.94.
  • Women's 5000m: Myrriam Dhoore (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) delivered a top-10 finish, placing 7th with a time of 18:29.42.
  • Women's 100m Hurdles: Cailey Weber (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) came in 20th with a mark of 16.73 seconds.
  • Women's 400m Hurdles: Cailey Weber (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) crossed the line in 1:09.30 to take 9th place.
  • Women's High Jump: Kelli Blissett (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) cleared 1.46m (4' 9½") to finish 12th.
  • Women's Long Jump: Kori Morris (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) landed a jump of 4.81m (15' 9½"), placing 24th.
  • Women's Triple Jump: Kiara Spates (Markham, Ill./Thorton Township) turned in an impressive effort, earning 2nd place with a mark of 11.21m (36' 9½").

Indiana Tech Open
  • Women's Discus: Kaelin Kreischer (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) threw a personal best of 36.36m (119' 3"), earning an impressive 7th-place finish.
  • Women's Javelin: Kelsi Dillon (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer) secured 8th place with a top throw of 31.11m (102' 1").
