Track and Field Posts Top Finishes and Personal Bests at GVSU Al & Sue Owens Classic

The Purdue Northwest track and field team continued its outdoor season with an impressive showing at the GVSU Al & Sue Owens Classic, held April 10–11 in Allendale, Michigan. The Pride recorded multiple top finishes, personal bests, and Division II marks across sprints, distance, jumps, relays, and field events.

  • Men's 100m: Myles Sisco (Portage, Ind./Portage) placed 12th in 10.96 to lead the Pride. Kalen Cummings (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) followed in 28th (11.34), with AJ Jenkins (Elgin, Ill.) 31st (11.40), Ryan Bosi (Ladd, Ill./Hall) 40th (11.70), and Ashton Arreola (Munster, Ind./Senn) 60th (13.64).
  • Men's 200m: AJ Jenkins (Elgin, Ill.) led the group with a 17th-place finish in 22.61. Carson Bateman (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) placed 23rd (22.75), Madai Similao (Suwanee, Ga.) 39th (23.24), Kalen Cummings (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) 46th (23.77), Ryan Bosi (Ladd, Ill./Hall) 50th (23.97), Niko Marinkovich (Crown Point, Ind./Lake Central) 52nd (24.06), and Ashton Arreola (Munster, Ind./Senn) 60th (26.89).
  • Men's 400m: Carson Bell (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) turned in a standout performance, placing 3rd overall with a personal-best 48.82. Willie Clay (Laporte, Ind./Laporte) finished 6th (49.45) and Max Nauman (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) placed 9th (49.79). Marcus Bowens-Caselberry (Prairie View, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) added a 19th-place finish with a personal-best 51.82, followed by Madai Similao (Suwanee, Ga.) (24th, 52.51), Luke Van Tholen (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) (25th, 52.58), Jaziah Green (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) (26th, 52.63), and Carson Bateman (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) (28th, 52.95).
  • Men's 400m Hurdles: Kyden Boyer (Marshal, Ill./Marshall) placed 13th in 57.01 to lead the Pride. Niko Marinkovich (Crown Point, Ind./Lake Central) finished 21st (58.64), and Dylan Guilford (Winamac, Ind./Winamac Community) took 27th with a personal-best 1:01.27.
  • Men's 800m: Gabriel Early (Carol Stream, Ill./Glenbard North) led the group with a 42nd-place finish in 1:59.85. Hayden Podlin (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central HS) followed in 45th with a season-best 2:00.09, while Chase Fajman (Dyer, Ind.) (58th, 2:04.45), Matt Clark (Morris, Ill./) (72nd, 2:12.84), and Conor Gross (Du Quoin, Ill./Du Quoin) (73rd, 2:18.49) rounded out the field.
  • Men's 1500m: Josh Tuck (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) paced the Pride with a 27th-place finish and personal-best time of 4:03.66. Jalen Strietelmeier (/Highland, Ind.) followed in 31st (4:03.95), with Carmelo Quintero (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) 42nd (4:08.85), Brandan Bagnara (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) 56th (4:17.14), Julio Herrera (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) 58th (PB 4:19.91), Keaton Westley (Arvada, Colo.) 64th (4:24.07), and Cort Haney (Avon, Ind./Avon) 76th (PB 4:43.05).
  • Men's Jumps: Eli Baumann (Allendale, Mich./Allendale) highlighted the meet with a 1st-place finish in the long jump (6.98m), earning a new Division II mark. Quinten McToy (Highland, Ind./Highland) placed 4th (6.74m), while Jeremy Melton (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac Township) finished 10th (6.39m). In the high jump, Melton placed 5th (2.01m, new DII mark), Baumann 7th (1.96m), and Conrad Dyrkacz (Chicago, Ill./Chesterton) 17th (1.81m).
  • Men's Throws: Andrew Juszczak (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) placed 34th in discus (34.19m) and 21st in hammer throw (33.67m). Cal Colandrea added a 25th-place finish in shot put (10.69m).
  • Men's Relays: The 4x400m relay team of Marcus Bowens-Caselberry (Prairie View, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson), Max Nauman (Skokie, Ill./Niles West), Luke Van Tholen (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South), and Carson Bell (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) placed 2nd overall in 3:20.84, earning a new Division II mark. The 4x100m relay team of AJ Jenkins (Elgin, Ill.), Myles Sisco (Portage, Ind./Portage), Marcus Bowens-Caselberry (Prairie View, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson), and Kalen Cummings (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) finished 6th in 42.18.

  • Women's 200m: Cailey Weber (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) led the Pride with a 19th-place finish in 26.28, while Maya Butler (Dyer, Ind./) placed 52nd (29.42).
  • Women's 400m: Mary Allen (Mesa, Ariz./Mesquite) placed 15th with a personal-best 59.73. Da'Ja Jones (Portage, Ind./Portage) followed in 17th (1:00.78), Charli Slater (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) in 18th (1:01.47), and Maya Butler (Dyer, Ind./) in 36th (1:09.54).
  • Women's 400m Hurdles: Anastasia Kudin (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro) placed 11th in 1:06.98, while Meg Sukley (Minooka, Ill./Minooka Community) finished 21st (1:25.35).
  • Women's 800m: Sara McGraw (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) placed 17th in 2:19.12.
  • Women's 1500m: Myrriam Dhoore (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) led the Pride with a 30th-place finish and personal-best 4:54.20. Kayla Garza (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) placed 53rd (5:12.81), Kayla Guajardo 64th (5:23.60), and Lizeth Flores Bernal (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) 67th (5:29.60).
  • Women's Jumps: Malia Butler (Dyer, Ind./Hanover Central) placed 8th in the long jump (5.34m), while Cailey Weber (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) finished 20th (4.96m). In the high jump, Weber placed 11th (1.52m) and Kelli Blissett (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) 18th (1.47m).
  • Women's Throws: Aubree Gleason (Gilbert, Ariz./Williams Field) led the Pride with a 9th-place finish in discus (37.99m) and placed 11th in shot put (10.85m). Kaelin Kreischer (Valparaiso, Ind./Morgan Township) placed 27th in discus (29.70m) and 18th in hammer throw (35.53m), while Jada Addo finished 14th in hammer throw (37.00m).
  • Women's Relays: The 4x100m relay team of Mary Allen (Mesa, Ariz./Mesquite), Chisom Chukwuocha (Indianapolis, Ind./), Da'Ja Jones (Portage, Ind./Portage), and Anastasia Kudin (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro) placed 8th overall with a season-best 49.01.
