This Friday the Baseball team took on Minnesota Crookston in Leesburg, Florida to close out their Florida spring trip. The Pride would emerge victorious over the eagles securing a 7-5 victory.
The Basics:

The Breakdown:
- Senior Luke Montgomery (Orland Park, Ill./St. Laurence High School) led the Pride with four hits and two RBIs.
- Sophomore Drake Ballard (Louisville, Ky./Martha Laynes Collins) and Sophomore Owen Winters (Kouts, Ind./Kouts) also contributed two hits each.
- Junior Eric Beck (Manteno, Ill/Manteno) started on the mound for Purdue Northwest throwing 3.1 innings and striking out one while allowing five hits.
- Senior Joe Tor (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) threw 4.2 innings of relief for the Pride, striking out three.
- Cole Hebl led UMC with two hits and an RBI.
- Nate Benning started and pitched 1.2 innings for the Eagles.
- In the 2nd inning, Purdue Northwest began strongly as Smith singled to left field, driving in Ballard for the initial run. Shortly afterward, Jones singled to right field, enabling Smith to cross the plate. Montgomery then doubled to left field, bringing Jones home, followed by Winters doubling to score Montgomery.
- Responding in the 4th inning, the Eagles singled to right field, bringing in a run, and a sacrifice fly added another to their tally. A groundout then scored another run, tying the game.
- The deadlock persisted until the 6th inning when a home run and an error allowed two runs for Minnesota Crookston
- In the 8th inning, Purdue Northwest regained the lead with Montgomery's single to center field, bringing in Jones and Andrews. A sacrifice fly added another run, and a subsequent single secured the victory by scoring Montgomery.
- The final score concluded with Purdue Northwest prevailing over Minnesota Crookston, 7 to 5.

The Pride will take to the field once again on Friday, March 22, marking the beginning of conference play against Davenport at 1:00 PM CT at Dowling Park.
