Box Score The Purdue Northwest softball team split a non-conference road doubleheader at Lewis on Tuesday afternoon falling in Game 1, 7-0, then bouncing back in Game 2 with a victory, 3-2.

Game 1
The Breakdown
  • Junior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) and senior Jocey Gault (West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) each led the Pride with a hit.
  • Junior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched the first four innings.
  • Payton Wuske led Lewis with two hits and one RBI.
  • Delaney Garden pitched a complete game for the Flyers and notched eight strikeouts.
  • Lewis scored five runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead.
  • The Flyers added a run in the fourth and fifth to seal the win, 7-0.

The Breakdown
  • Shroyer and senior Ashley Bravo (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) led the Pride with two hits each.
  • Senior Madison Schultz (Lafayette, Ind./Faith Christian) added a hit and one RBI.
  • Senior Abbie May (LaSalle, Ill./Saint Bede Academy) started in the circle and pitched all seven innings to earn the win. She notched four strikeouts and only gave up two runs.
  • Jalyn Powell led Lewis with three hits and one RBI.
  • Payton Wuske started on the mound for the Flyers and pitched the first 4.0 innings recording five strikeouts.
  • Lewis started the scoring in the third inning grabbing a 1-0 lead.
  • The Pride tied the game up in the fourth off a Schultz RBI double to make it 1-1.
  • Purdue Northwest took the lead in the fifth inning scoring two runs to make the score 3-1.
  • The Flyers added a run in the seventh to make it 3-2 and had runners in scoring position before the Pride pitching and defense shut down any walk-off chance to end the game with a 3-2 victory.
