Pride record second-place finish at PNW XC Classic

WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Purdue University Northwest women's cross country team finished second at the PNW XC Classic 5K, hosted Friday night at the Westville campus.
 
PNW recorded an overall team score of 40 with an average time of 20:39.65. Junior Christina Shaginaw (Hobart, Ind.) led the Pride by placing third overall in the field of 39 runners, posting a time of 19:33.50. Holly Shaginaw (Hobart, Ind.), Morgan Bartlett (East Troy, Wis.) and Jazmin Grund (Lowell, Ind.) each finished among the top 10.
 
Olivet Nazarene recorded a meet-low 18 points and claimed the top spot in the final team standings. The Tigers had six of the fastest eight runners in the race. ONU's Sarai Vargas claimed first place with a final time of 19:14.23.
 
Non-scoring teams with competitors in the race included Calumet College of St. Joseph, Roosevelt, IU South Bend, Governors State, IU Northwest and Moraine Valley CC.

PNW will travel to Wisconsin for next week's Lucian Rosa D2 Invite. The Pride have two regular season meets remaining before the GLIAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 23.
