GRIFFITH, Ind. - The Purdue University Calumet women's tennis team saw its season come to an end, falling to Robert Morris, 6-3, in the opening round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The Peregrines end the 3013-14 campaign with a 4-12 overall record.
The Black and Gold trailed 2-1 after doubles play, as the tandem of Felicia Deardorff and Sarah Storm claimed an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Amber Haworth and Emily Pearson notched the Peregrines' other wins in the match, leaving the team two points shy of advancing to the CCAC Semifinals.
Haworth posted a 6-2 victory in the first set of her No. 2 singles match, before her opponent retired to put the finishing touches on it. The win was No. 10 on the year for the Crown Point native, a program record. Pearson cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 singles to finish 3-6 on the season.
The season finale will put an end to the collegiate careers of Deardorff and Lauren Innes, who are the only remaining members of Purdue Calumet's inaugural team in 2010-11.
