The Breakdown
Game 1: W (9-7) – 7 Innings
  • Purdue Northwest totaled 9 runs on 11 hits, capitalizing on timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to secure the win. Parkside finished with 7 runs on 13 hits.
  • Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) led the Pride with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs scored. Joey Guiliano (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) added two hits, an RBI, and stole three bases, while Drew Kosteba (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) delivered a standout game, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a triple and double.
  • Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) contributed with an RBI and a triple, and Nick Robinson (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) added a key hit and scored a run after entering as a pinch runner. The Pride also drew four walks and were hit by two pitches, consistently putting pressure on Parkside's pitching staff.
  • On the mound, Colin Pfeifer (Morris, Ill./Morris Community) started for Purdue Northwest, allowing six runs over 4.1 innings. Dylan McGee (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) earned the win in relief, giving up one run over 1.2 innings, while Ivan Balboa (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) closed the game to earn the save.
  • Parkside jumped out early, but the Pride answered immediately, scoring two runs in the first and two more in the second to keep pace. Purdue Northwest took control in the fourth and fifth innings, plating five combined runs, highlighted by Kosteba's extra-base hits and Guiliano's speed on the bases.
  • The Pride added insurance in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a wild pitch and a defensive error to extend the lead to 9-6. Parkside threatened late, adding a run in the sixth, but Balboa shut the door in the seventh to secure the victory.

Game 2: L (23-13) – 8 Innings
  • Purdue Northwest recorded 13 runs on 15 hits in a high-scoring contest, but Parkside's 24-hit, 23-run offensive explosion proved too much to overcome.
  • Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) reached base five times, scoring four runs and collecting two hits with three walks. Joey Guiliano (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) added two hits and three runs, while Billy Chidsey (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) drove in four runs and reached base five times with two hits and three walks.
  • Drew Kosteba (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) contributed a double and two RBIs, while Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) and Nathan Koster (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) each recorded two hits and combined for four RBIs. Gabe Bush (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) and Braylon Holland (Hobart, Ind./Andrean) also added multi-hit contributions as the Pride lineup stayed productive throughout the game.
  • On the mound, Preston Burton (Sellersburg, Ind./Silver Creek) took the loss after allowing 11 runs over 2.0 innings. The Pride bullpen saw extended action, with multiple relievers combining to allow 23 runs on 24 hits.
  • Parkside wasted no time offensively, scoring five runs in the first and six more in the second to take an early 11-3 lead. The Rangers continued to apply pressure with runs in six different innings, including a four-run eighth inning that helped seal the game.
  • Despite the early deficit, Purdue Northwest showed resilience, scoring in five different innings, including a five-run fourth inning to cut into the lead. The Pride added late runs in the seventh and eighth innings but were unable to keep pace with Parkside's consistent offensive production.
