The Purdue Northwest Esports program is advancing to the NECC Conference Playoffs in League of Legends and Overwatch after a dominant and undefeated regular season.
The League of Legends team went 7-0 in the NECC Division III's East Conference and only lost two maps across the 16 total maps and seven Best-of-Three's played during the season, with an ending map record of 14-2. Along the road to playoffs, the team squared off against formidable opponents in the form of Cleveland State and Mississippi State, both of which forced a full three map series. The team also took major 2-0 wins over the University of Florida and the University of Michigan along their path to playoffs.
The Overwatch team also went 7-0 after being newly promoted to the NECC Division IV's West-Central Conference, after their championship-winning season in NECC Division V this past fall. Across their seven Best-of-Five series played during the regular season, the team only lost five maps in the 21 total maps played, ending with a 16-5 map record. The team had dominant 3-0 performances against the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, and the University of Missouri. Illinois State University and Grand View University each forced a thrilling 5-map series which ended with a 3-2 victory for Purdue Northwest.
Overwatch will be squaring off against Hesston College in their Conference Quarterfinals on Friday, March 27th, at 7:30pm. League of Legends will be facing the United States Military Academy in West Point their Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 7th, at 8pm. Both matches will be streamed on Twitch atÂ
