The Pride baseball team took on Saginaw Valley State University this Sunday in a GLIAC conference matchup where the Pride would fall by a score of 5-3.

The Breakdown
- Billy Chidsey (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) led the Pride offensively with a 2-for-4 performance, including a triple and a run scored. Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) added two hits and an RBI, while Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) drove in two runs with a key base hit in the fourth inning. Denham Kozy (Munster, Ind./Munster) also contributed a hit and added a stolen base as the Pride finished with six hits.
- Ben Cash (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) got the start on the mound, allowing four runs on seven hits over 6.0 innings while striking out eight. Joey DalPonte (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) followed with three innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out three.
- Saginaw Valley struck first in the opening inning, using a walk and a pair of hits to plate two runs and take an early 2-0 lead.
- The Pride answered in the fourth inning as Zach Wright (Munster, Ind./Munster) singled and Derek Kubek (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) reached base to set up Brayden Barrett (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton), who delivered a two-RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.
- Saginaw Valley regained the lead in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a double and a single along with a sacrifice fly to score two runs and go back in front 4-2.
- Both pitching staffs settled in over the middle innings, with Cash working through traffic and DalPonte delivering scoreless frames to keep the Pride within striking distance.
- Purdue Northwest cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when Billy Chidsey (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) tripled and later scored on an RBI single from Wright to make it 4-3.
- Saginaw Valley added an insurance run in the ninth on a solo home run to extend the lead to 5-3.
- The Pride threatened in the bottom of the ninth as Barrett was hit by a pitch and moved into scoring position but were unable to capitalize as Saginaw Valley closed out the game.
