Purdue University Northwest Athletics has announced the resignation of Interim Head Coach Shadow Chanthadouangsy.
Chanthadouangsy, who has led the Pride's competitive efforts with passion and distinction, departs following a successful tenure that included multiple landmark achievements for the program.
A respected leader and strategist, Chanthadouangsy, as an assistant coach and the interim head coach, helped elevate PNW Esports to national prominence. Under his guidance, the League of Legends team secured back-to-back Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championships and reached a Top 12 national finish in 2025 — the program's best performance to date on the collegiate stage.
"Shadow brought energy, commitment, and a winning mentality to our program," said Rick Costello, Director of Athletics. "His ability to mentor student-athletes and build competitive teams helped establish a strong foundation for the future of PNW Esports. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Shadow for his dedication and efforts during his time with the esports program. I wish him continued success in all future endeavors."
"I want to thank everyone at PNW for the incredible opportunity to chase my dreams and pursue my passion for esports. Over the last three years, I've had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, build long lasting connections, and grow both personally and professionally," said Shadow Chanthadougsy. "Being apart of the esports program has shaped me into who I am today, and I am extremely grateful for that. I wish nothing but the best for PNW and the esports program moving forward."
Beyond the accolades, Chanthadouangsy was known for his deep knowledge of the game, his ability to connect with players, and his vision for growing the esports community on campus.
A national search will now begin for the next esports head coach.
