Alex van Lumich Named GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the Second Time This Season
Alex van Lumich continues to make waves in collegiate tennis, earning his second GLIAC Men's Player of the Week honor this season. The standout from Purdue Northwest University delivered an exceptional performance over the weekend, further cementing his place among the top competitors in the nation.
Currently ranked 26th in doubles and 38th in singles, van Lumich showcased his resilience and skill with key victories this week that contributed to the team's success.
Van Lumich helped PNW to a 4-3 victory over Tusculum, securing a straight-set win (6-1, 6-4) at #1 singles against Rens Verhaar. The highlight of the weekend came in a showdown against Grand Valley State, where van Lumich delivered clutch performances in both singles and doubles. Teaming up with Dickson, the duo edged out Victor Lopes and Lucas Gonzalez in a thrilling 7-5 victory at #1 doubles. Later, in singles, van Lumich battled back after dropping the first set to defeat Denys Zamaraiev 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, sealing another impressive individual win.
