The Purdue Northwest softball team dropped two games in Day 2 of the Lewis Dome Invite on Friday. The Pride fell in Game 1 against Truman State, 5-0, and then lost in a tight battle coming up short against Minnesota Duluth in Game 2, 10-8.

Game 1 – vs. Truman State
The Breakdown
- Sophomore Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), junior Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic), and junior Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) each led the Pride with one hit.
- Freshman Rylan Gick (West Lafayette, Ind./William Henry Harrison) earned her first career start on the mound for the Pride and pitched all seven innings tallying five strikeouts in her collegiate debut.
- Avery Taylor led Truman State with one hit and two RBIs.
- Kaylyn Jones started in the circle for the Bulldogs pitching the first five innings and earned the win allowing three hits with six strikeouts.
- Truman State started the game fast grabbing three runs in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Bulldogs then added a run in the second, third , and fourth innings to make the score 5-0.
- The Pride couldn't convert on several situations with runners in scoring position and ultimately fell in a slow offensive game, 5-0.
Game 2 – vs. Minnesota Duluth
The Breakdown
- Fair led the Pride with a solid game at the plate going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
- DeBoer added two hits and one RBI.
- Freshman Jadyn Ramer (Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) notched two hits during the game.
- Senior Myah Stuckey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) chipped in one hit and one RBI for Purdue Northwest
- Freshman Jordyn Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) made her collegiate debut in the circle for Pride and pitching six innings of work with one strikeout.
- Nicole Schmitt and Taryn Christopher led Minnesota Duluth with one hit and two RBIs each.
- Maddy Walsh started on the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched the first 2.1 innings allowing five hits and five runs but was enough to record the win.
- Minnesota Duluth started the game scoring the first three runs in the first inning and take a 3-0 lead.
- The Pride responded with a two-run first inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.
- The Bulldogs returned with two runs in the second and third innings to extend their lead to 7-2.
- Purdue Northwest didn't back down, scoring four runs in the third inning to make it a one-score game, 7-6.
- Minnesota Duluth then scored a run in the fourth to go back up 8-6.
- The Pride scored one run in the fourth as well to make it 8-7.
- The Bulldogs went on to tally two runs in the seventh inning to take a 10-7 advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh.
- Purdue Northwest managed to score a run to make the score 10-8 but couldn't add anymore with runners in scoring position once again, falling to the Bulldogs in a highly contested battle.
