Softball wins 9 inning walk off thriller to advance in GLIAC Tournament

The Purdue Northwest softball team earn a nine-inning thrilling victory against Parkside, 1-0, to kick-off the GLIAC Tournament onĀ

The Breakdown
  • Freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led the Pride with two hits.
  • Senior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon), senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian), and sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian)Ā added one hit each.
  • Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University)Ā started on the mound for the Pride and pitched an incredible 8.2Ā innings to keep Purdue Northwest in the game only allowing four hits with no runs earned and four strikeouts.
  • Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) came in for relief to strikeout the final batter and seal the win on the mound.
  • Three Parkside players led the teamĀ with one hit.
  • Olivia MasnicaĀ started in the circle for the RangersĀ and pitched all 8.2 innings allowing five hits and one run.
  • Both teams were both held scoreless into the fifth inning and then ran into a lighting delay to pause the game.
  • After a lightning delay, the teams continued to play great defense with stellar pitching and the contest headed into the ninthĀ inning.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, with one out, junior Myah Stuckey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) launched a ball to the left field line that was caught by the outfielder which allowed junior Darcy Barkauskas (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) to race home for game-winning run to give the Pride the big win, 1-0.
