On Tuesday, the NCAA revealed its picks for the 2024 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Among these selections were two standout athletes from Purdue Northwest Men's Track and Field team: Sophomore D'Shawn Dorsey (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood) for the high jump event and JC Ramirez (Odessa, Texas/Odessa) for the triple jump event. These selections mark a historic moment for Purdue Northwest as it's the first-time athletes from the school have reached this stage.
D'Shawn Dorsey (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood), currently tied 6th nationally in high jump, is determined to make an impact at the Championships. Dorsey's journey to this point has been marked by numerous victories and stellar performances, including setting a new school record in high jump, clinching 4th place at the GLIAC outdoor championship, and earning GLIAC Male Field Athlete of the Week honors. With unwavering determination, Dorsey aims to bring home the championship title to Purdue Northwest.
JC Ramirez (Odessa, Texas/Odessa), ranked 17th nationally in the triple jump event, has also had an exceptional season. Ramirez holds the school record in triple jump and has secured multiple 1st place finishes in his event throughout the season. With four GLIAC Championships under his belt, including his latest triumph in the previous GLIAC Outdoor Championships, Ramirez is considered one of Purdue Northwest's most accomplished student athletes. He is fully committed to giving his all at the Championships, aiming to add another championship victory to his impressive track record.
