The Purdue Northwest softball team notched two big wins on the road against Saginaw Valley State in GLIAC action on Monday afternoon. The Pride took Game 1 in eight innings, 2-1, and then snatched Game 2 in eight innings once again, 3-2.

Game 1
The Breakdown
- Freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led the Pride with three hits.
- Senior Allison Arnold (Tucson, Ariz./Naperville North) added one hit and an RBI.
- Freshman Kylie Dugan (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison), junior Darcy Barkauskas (St. John, Ind./Lake Central), and junior Myah Stuckey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) each chipped in one hit.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started on the mound for the Pride and all eight innings for the complete game win. She ended with five strikeouts and only gave up three total hits with no earned runs allowed.
- Aalana Kimble, Maddie Campagna, and Sydney Herioux all led Saginaw Valley State with one hit.
- Emily Depew started in the circle for the Cardinals and pitched the first 2.1 innings with three strikeouts and gave up one run with three hits.
- Kimble came in and pitched the final 5.2 innings allowing four hits, one run, and striking out four batters.
- The Cardinals took the early lead in the first inning off a sacrifice fly Sara Moos to give them a 1-0 lead.
- Purdue Northwest tied the game up 1-1 in the third inning after Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) was hit by a pitch that brought in the tying run.
- The game headed into extra innings and in the eighth inning Arnold hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Pride the 2-1 advantage.
- At the bottom of the eighth inning, bases loaded and one out, SVSU hit into a game clinching double play created by Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian), Kelsi Dillon (Braidwood, Ill./Reed-Custer (Georgian Court)), and Fair to secure the Game 1 win, 2-1.
Game 2
The Breakdown
- Dugan led the Pride with three hits at the plate.
- Stuckey added two hits.
- Senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) contributed one hit and two RBIs.
- Arnold, Fair, sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian), and sophomore Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) each chipped in one hits
- Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started in the circle for Pride and pitched all eight innings to earn the complete game win. She only gave up one earned run and tallied three strikeouts.
- Mya Purdy led Saginaw Valley State with two hits.
- Alyssa Muench started on the mound for the Cardinals pitching the first 4.3 innings allowing five hits, two earned runs, and had seven strikeouts.
- Kimble once again came in for relief and pitched the final 3.1 innings with five hits, one run, and three strikeouts.
- SVSU took the early lead in Game 2 in the first inning scoring one run to make it 1-0.
- In the third inning, J. DeBoer launched a two-run homerun to give the Pride a 2-1 lead.
- The Cardinals tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh off a Kimble RBI single to send it to extras with the score 2-2.
- In the eighth inning, the Pride scored off an SVSU error to score a run to give them the lead 3-2.
- Great pitching and defense helped secure the hard-fought win in the bottom of the eighth inning for the Pride, 3-2.
