The Purdue Northwest softball team split two hard-fought battles on the road in GLIAC play at Wayne State on Friday evening, defeating the Warriors in Game 1, 5-3, and dropping Game 2 in eight innings, 4-3.

Game 1
The Breakdown
- Freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led the Pride with two hits and three RBIs at the plate.
- Graduate student Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) added three hits and one RBI.
- Senior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) and freshman Kylie Dugan (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison) each contributed two hits.
- Senior Allison Arnold (Tucson, Ariz./Naperville North) chipped in one hit and one RBI during the game.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched a complete game win notching five strikeouts.
- Rylie Josephson led Wayne State with three hits.
- Sydney Long started in the circle for the Warriors and pitched all seven innings with four strikeouts.
- Wayne State took the early lead in the first inning scoring three runs to make it 3-0.
- The Pride grabbed their first run in the third inning off an RBI single from Michko to make the score 3-1.
- Purdue Northwest cut their deficit to 3-2 in the sixth inning off an RBI hit from Fair.
- In the seventh inning, bases loaded and with two outs, Fair made a clutch hit down the right side scoring two runs to give the Pride their first lead of the game, 4-3.
- Purdue Northwest added another run in the seventh off an RBI single from Arnold to extend their advantage to 5-3.
- The Pride held strong defensively in the final inning to seal the win, 5-3.

The Breakdown
- Shroyer led the Pride with two hits and two RBIs including two doubles.
- Senior Jessice DeBoer added one hit and one RBI.
- Four other Pride players chipped in one hit during the game.
- Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started in the circle for the Pride and pitched all eight innings and struckout three batters.
- Logan Forman led Wayne State with three hits.
- Alexis Bonk started on the mound for the Warriors pitching a complete game win with five strikeouts.
- The Warriors scored the first runs of the game in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- Purdue Northwest tied the game in the third inning to make it 2-2.
- Wayne State regained the lead in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Mady Ruczynski to make it 3-2.
- Shroyer launched an RBI double in the seventh inning to tie up the game, 3-3, and take the contest to extra innings.
- In the bottom of the eighth inning, Ruczynski hit a line drive to the right side to score the game winning run as the Warriors took the game, 4-3.
