The Purdue Northwest softball team dropped their first GLIAC games in their home opener to #7 Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon. The Pride fell in Game 1, 11-5, and then in Game 2, 4-0.

Game 1
The Breakdown
- Sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) led the Pride with two hits and two RBIs.
- Graduate student Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) added two hits and one RBI.
- Senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) contributed two hits including one double and one triple.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched the first three innings.
- Freshman Hannah Rafferty-Flatter (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) came in and pitched the final four innings and notched two strikeouts giving up only three hits.
- Megan Keonigshof led GVSUÂ with two hits and three RBIs.
- Neveah Ingram started in the circle for the Lakers and pitched a complete game win with three strikeouts.
- After two scoreless innings to start the game, GVSU tallied seven runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead.
- Purdue Northwest grabbed their first run in third inning to make it 7-1.
- The Lakers added two runs to extend their lead to 9-1.
- The Pride scored a run in the fourth and sixth innings to cut their deficit to 9-3.
- GVSU notched two more runs in the seventh to make it 11-3.
- Purdue Northwest tallied two runs in the seventh inning but fell in the end, 11-5.

The Breakdown
- Four Pride players led the game with one hit each.
- Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started in the circle for the Pride and pitched all seven innings only giving up five hits, two earned runs, and struckout six batters.
- Hannah Hollister led GVSUÂ with two hits.
- Kylie Swierko started on the mound for the Lakers pitching a complete game win with two strikeouts.
- GVSU grabbed the early lead in the first inning off a passed ball to make it 1-0.
- The Lakers added another run in the third to make the score 2-0.
- GVSU then scored two runs to extend their lead to 4-0 as the Pride could not muster enough offense to pull out the victory.
