The Purdue Northwest softball team their final pair of contests in the Florida Spring Games on Friday, March 15. The Pride defeated Slippery Rock to start the day, 8-3, and then fell in a tough battle to Hillsdale, 4-1. The softball team finished the Florida trip with a 7-3 record.

Game 1 - vs. Slippery Rock - W, 8-3
The Breakdown
- Freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led the Pride with two hits and three RBIs.
- Sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) added three hits and one RBI.
- Senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) and freshman Kylie Dugan (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison) each contributed two hits.
- Sophomore Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic)Â both chipped in one hit and two RBIs.
- Freshman Hannah Rafferty-Flatter (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched a complete game to earn her first collegiate win. She ended with five strikeouts and only gave up five hits all game.
- Alexsa Hurd led Slippery Rock with two hits.
- Kelsi Anderson started in the circle for the Rock and pitched the first five innings notching five strikeouts.
- Slippery Rock grabbed an early lead in the first inning scoring two runs to make it 2-0.
- The Pride tied it up in the third inning 2-2 scoring two runs.
- Purdue Northwest took their first lead off a A.DeBoer RBI single to make the score 3-2.
- The Rock came back and tied it up 3-3 in the fourth.
- The Pride regained the lead in the fifth inning with the score of 4-3.
- In the sixth inning, Hernandez launched a two-run shot to increase the Pride lead to 6-3.
- Fair brought in two more runs in the seventh inning to make the final score of 8-3.
- The Pride finished the game with 13 hits and ended with five stolen bases.
Game 2 - vs. Hillsdale - L, 4-1
The Breakdown
- Dugan led the Pride at the plate with three hits.
- Four other Pride players chipped in one hit each.
- Freshman Hannah Rafferty-Flatter (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) started in the circle for the Pride once again and pitched the first 4.1 innings with four strikeouts.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University)Â came in for Purdue Northwest and pitched the final 2.2 innings giving up no runs, no hits, and struckout two batters.
- McKenna Eichholz led Hillsdale with two hits and two RBIs.
- Joni Russell started on the mound for the Chargers pitching a complete game win with nine strikeouts.
- Hillsdale scored two runs in the first inning to grab the early lead, 2-0.
- The Pride scored their lone run in the fourth inning off a Fair RBI ground to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The Chargers tallied two more runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 4-1.
- Purdue Northwest were not able to convert on chances in the end and fell short with the final score, 4-1.
