The Purdue Northwest softball team split a pair of highly contested games in Day 2 action of the Florida Spring Games falling to Lewis, 4-2, and winning an eight inning thriller to take down Minnesota-Duluth on Sunday evening, 3-2.

Game 1 - vs. Lewis - L, 4-2
The Breakdown
- Sophomore Amanda DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) led the Pride with two hits
- Freshman Emma Fair (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) and senior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) added one hit and one RBI each.
- Freshman Kylie Dugan (Buck Creek, Ind./William Henry Harrison) and senior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian) both chipped in one hit.
- Senior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched all six innings and notched two strikeouts.
- Jaylyn Powell led Lewis with two hits and three RBIs.
- Delany Garden started in the circle for the Flyers and pitched a complete game for the win with four strikeouts.
- Lewis grabbed the early lead in the first inning scoring two runs to make it 2-0.
- The Pride tied it up in the third inning scoring two runs to make the score 2-2.
- The Flyers regained the lead in the third inning tallying two runs to make it 4-2 and the final scored in the end.

The Breakdown
- Dugan led the Pride at the plate with three hits.
- Senior Allison Arnold (Tucson, Ariz./Naperville North) added one hit and RBI.
- Four other Pride players each chipped in one hit during the game.
- Senior Maddison Roop (Hudson, Ill./University) started in the circle for the Pride and pitched a complete game hard earned win to shutdown a powerful UMD offense. She only gave up one earned run and had seven strikeouts.
- Kendall Jenkins led UMDÂ with two hits and two RBIs.
- Maddy Walsh started on the mound for the Bulldogs pitching the first four innings and notching two strikeouts with two earned runs.
- UMD scored the first run of the contest in the third inning taking a 1-0 advantage.
- The Pride tied it up 1-1 in the fourth inning after an Arnold RBI single.
- The Bulldogs regained the lead after Jenkins launched a homerun in the fifth to make the score 2-1.
- Purdue Northwest tied up the game once again in the fifth inning off a A.DeBoer RBI groundout.
- The game then went into the eighth inning where made several key stops to get it to the bottom of the inning.
- Purdue Northwest earned the game-winning scored after an error in the outfield to seal the gritty win, 3-2/
