Mercedes Simmons (Crystal Falls, Mich./Forest Park) and
Dash Shaw (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) each scored 26 points to help the Purdue Northwest Women's Basketball team edge Lake Superior State on the road in a GLIAC battle on Thursday evening, 63-61.

- Simmons led the Pride with 26 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and blocked seven shots. Her seven blocks is career-best and single-game record for the Purdue Northwest women's basketball program.
- Dash also scored 26Â points and grabbed seven rebounds.
- As a team, the Pride ended the game shooting 23-of-59 (39.0%) from the floor and went 3-of-19 (15.8%) from the three-point line.
- Grace Bradford led Lake Superior State with 18 points and snatched a game-high 17 rebounds.
- As a team, the Lakers finished the contest going 26-of-56 (46.4%) from the field and shot 6-of-16 (37.5%) from deep.
The Breakdown
- The Lakers came out of the game strong and outscored the Pride 26-11 in the first period taking the initial momentum.
- The Pride edged Lake Superior State in the second period 18-16 but was still behind double-digits heading into halftime, 42-29.
- The third period was a whole new story as Purdue Northwest came out firing outscoring the Lakers 17-4 and tying the game up 46-46 going into the last period.
- Both team battled it out in the fourth period and left it all on the floor.
- With the game tied 58-58 and two minutes remaining, the Pride scored their final five points from free-throw line to ice the game in the end to finish off the Lakers, 63-61.
