The Purdue Northwest softball team split two highly contested battles on the road in GLIAC action at Saginaw Valley State slipping in Game 1, 1-0, and then bouncing back in Game 2 with a 8-7 victory.

  • Senior Jocey Gault (West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) led the Pride with two hits.
  • Senior Ashley Bravo (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) and junior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) chipped in one hit apiece.
  • Junior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) started on the mound for the Pride and pitched all seven innings notching five strikeouts.
  • Knacek led SVSU with one hit and one RBI.
  • Depew picked up the win in the circle pitched all seven innings for the Cardinals and struckout nine batters.
  • SVSU broke the scoreless game in the third inning to make the score 1-0 and hold for the same final score.

  • Senior Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) led the Pride going 4-for-4 at plate with two RBIs.

  • Gills led Parkside with three hits and three RBIs.
  • Groves started on the mound for the Cardinals and pitched the first 0.2 innings.
  • The Pride started off fast scoring four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead early in the contest.
  • SVUS scored two runs in the first to cut their deficit to 4-2.
  • Purdue Northwest grabbed two runs in the fourth inning to increase their lead to 6-2.
  • The Cardinals scored a run off a solo shot from Gills to make it 6-3.
  • The Pride extended their lead to 8-3 in the fifth after two runs.
  • SVSU cut the deficit to 8-5 in the sixth inning.
  • The Cardinals fought back scoring two runs in the seventh but the Pride held firm defensively to hold on for the 8-7 win.
