The Purdue Northwest softball team picked up four big wins at the Lewis Dome Invitational this past weekend held in Rosemont, Illinois.
Thursday, February 23 vs. Truman State - L, 4-1
The Breakdown
- Junior Aubrey Shroyer (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) led the Pride with two hits.
- Junior Kirsta Wright (Casa Grande, Ariz./Casa Grande Union (Central Arizona CC)) and sophomore Myah Stuckey (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) each added a hit during the game.
- Senior Abbie May (LaSalle, Ill./Saint Bede Academy) started on the mound for the Pride pitching six innings notching two strikeouts.
- Wood led Truman State with two hits and three RBIs.
- Zimmer pitched the first four innings for the Bulldogs and tallied a five strikeouts.
- Both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings.
- Truman State notched their first run in the fifth to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Pride earned their run in the fifth to tie the game up 1-1.
- The Bulldogs scored three runs in the seventh inning to seal the game, 4-1.
Thursday, February 23Â vs. Upper Iowa - W, 4-2
The Breakdown
- Senior Jocey Gault (West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison)Â led the Pride with two hits and two RBIs.
- Senior Selena Michko (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) added two hits and one RBI.
- Junior Jessica DeBoer (Dyer, Ind./Illiana Christian)Â chipped in two hits during the contest.
- Junior Maddie Roop started in the circle for the Pride and pitched all seven innings. She only gave up three hits, two runs, and recorded three strikeouts.
- Laila Pelds and Rae VanMilligan led Upper Iowa with one hit and one RBI each.
- Abby Breuer pitched all six innings for the Peacocks and allowed four runs off eight hits with three strikeouts.
- The Pride got off to a fast start scoring two runs in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
- Purdue Northwest added another run in the fourth to make it 3-0.
- Upper Iowa scored their two runs in the sixth inning to cut their deficit to 3-2.
- Gault launched a solo homerun in the sixth to seal the game, 4-2.
Friday, February 24 vs. Ursuline - W, 4-2
The Breakdown
- Senior Ashley Bravo (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) led the Pride with three hits and one RBI.
- Shroyer added three hits
- Junior Allison Arnold (Tucson, Ariz./Naperville North) tallied two hits.
- J. DeBoer chipped in one hit and two RBIs.
- Senior Emma Hill (Holmes Beach, Fla./Cary-Grove (IL))Â earned the start for the Pride and pitched all seven innings. She allowed only four hits and no earned runs while tallying four strikeouts.
- Four players led Ursuline with one hit each.
- Backherms pitched all six innings for the Arrows and recorded three strikeouts.
- Ursuline grabbed the first runs in the first inning to grab an ealry 2-0 lead.
- The Pride responded with three runs of their own in the first to take the lead, 3-2.
- Purdue Northwest added to their lead in the fourth with an RBI from Bravo to secure the win, 4-2.
Saturday, February 25 vs. Winona State - W, 3-1
The Breakdown
- Freshman Olivia Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora Central Catholic) and J. DeBoer each led the Pride with one hit and one RBI.
- Three players added a hit for Purdue Northwest.
- Roop started on the mound once again and pitched a complete game win for the Pride. She only allowed one run and notched six strikeouts.
- Hlas led Winona State with two hits.
- Hlas also pitched all six innings for the Warriors and tallied eight strikeouts.
- The Pride took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- Winona State tied it up 1-1 in the first.
- Purdue Northwest scored two crucial runs in the sixth inning to secure the win, 3-1.
Saturday, February 25 vs. Minnesota State Moorhead - W, 6-3
The Breakdown
- Arnold led Purdue Northwest with one hit and a game-high four RBIs.
- Michko added two hits and one RBI.
- Four other players notched a hit for the Pride
- Junior Gabby Paliska (Palos Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East (Wisconsin-Green Bay)) pitched all seven innings for the Pride to earn the big win.
- Gallagher and Lopez each earned two hits to lead MSU-Moorhead.
- Evans pitched the first three innings for the Dragons allowing four hits and six runs.
- MSU-Moorhead grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Pride scored two runs in the first to take the lead, 2-1.
- Arnold launched a grand slam for the Pride in the fourth inning to increase the lead to 6-1.
- The Dragons earned a run in the sixth and seventh inning but it wasn't enough as the Purdue Northwest defense held strong to secure the 6-3 win.

- The Pride next compete at the Springfield Invitational starting on Saturday, March 4 in Springfield, Ill. The first game is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. against the University of Illinois Springfield.
