Year two of Track and Field at Purdue Northwest opens up this Friday, but there's an exciting twist; Purdue Northwest will be the host to the University's first-ever home meet.

This Friday, December 1st, at 11:00 AM, Field events will kick off the first ever, "Annual PNW Classic". Then, beginning at 12:40 PM, the running events will begin, starting with the Men's 60-meter dash preliminary rounds.

Some notable returners for the Pride include GLIAC Indoor and Outdoor Triple Jump Champion J.C. Ramirez, GLIAC medalists Kiara Spates (Markham, Ill./Thorton Township) and Lucas Bass (Maple Park, Ill./Kaneland), as well as many other returning conference scorers from the Indoor and Outdoor Conference meets last season.

Talking about the team this year, the returning Ramirez had this to say about the 2023-2024. "The team this year has a high energy. It feels more like a family."

Starting his second year as the Head Track and Field Coach, Thomas Whittaker has high hopes for a big jump in the program's second year. "I'm looking forward to all the progress the team has made throughout fall training. The expectation is to have a great first meet, as well as a great season."

The meet will be held at Gately Indoor Stadium located in Chicago, Illinois. Attendance is free for students, as well as children 3 and under. The cost is $5 dollars for all other children, and $10 dollars for adults.

The address for Gately Indoor Track & Field Complex is 10201 S. Cottage Grove Ave. Chicago, Illinois, 60628.
