Pride D2 Hockey taikes down Concordia University (Mich.) 6-2

The Purdue Northwest ACHA D2 Hockey defeated Concordia University-Ann Arbor this Saturday by a score of 6-2. 

The Basics  

  • Records: Purdue Northwest (3-1), Concordia University (Mich.) (0-2)

Inside the Numbers  

  • Freshman Jacob Behnke and sophomore Sean Curtis led the Pride with two goals each.  

  • Freshman Leon Swiatkowski and freshman Matthew Mcguinness, also contributed a goal. 

  • Senior Curtis Campbell (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights HS) played all sixty minutes in the goal for the Pride and had 28 saves.  

  • Ethan Ryan played all sixty minutes in goal for Concordia and had 28 saves.  

The Breakdown  

  • In Period 1, Jacob Behnke (South Elgin, Ill.) scored his fourth goal of the season during a power play, with assists from Jt Verdino and Cole Bocock at 5:37. Matthew Mcguinness would also find the back of the net with his own powerplay goal. 

  • In Period 2, the game heated up quickly with a goal from Concordia just 10 seconds into the period. Later in the period, the Pride secured two crucial goals. Sean Curtin (Chicago, Ill.) scored the game-winning goal at 2:20, assisted by Jacob Lee (Osceola, Ind./Penn) and Charles Tucker. An insurance goal was also tacked on at 14:20, assisted by Matthew Mcguinness and Anthony Caserta (Perth, Ontario/Perth District Collegiate Institute)

  • In Period 3, the Pride continued their strong performance with two more goals. Sean Curtin (Chicago, Ill.) netted his second goal of the game on a power play at 7:49, with an assist from Leon Swiatkowski (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic). Jacob Behnke (South Elgin, Ill.) also added to his goal tally with his fifth of the season on a power play, assisted by Cole Bocock and Jt Verdino. 

  • The Pride would secure a 6-2 victory over Concordia Ann Arbor.
