ACHA D3 Hockey dominates Wheaton

The Purdue Northwest ACHA D3 Hockey team took both games over Wheaton this week comfortable. Winning Game 1 on Friday night 15-3, and Game 2 on Saturday evening, 18-4.

Game 1 
Inside the Numbers
  • Senior Cole Bocock led Purdue Northwest with four goals goals.
  • Junior Brendan Kerrick (St. John, Ind./Lake Central HS) and Freshman Sam Heffernan (Carmel, Ind./Zionsville Community High) each had three goals.
  • Cody Graniczny (Beecher, Ill./Beecher), Michael Deady (St. John, Ind./Bishop Noll HS), and Kevin Pietrucha each contributed goals as well.
  • Goalie time for The Pride was split evenly between Alexander Broschek, Vincent Didonato, and Jake Kiebles (Alsip, Ill./Alan B. Shepard).
The Breakdown
  • Purdue Northwest took an early lead in period one and didn't look back as they netted six goals from Ansari, Deady, Bocock, and Heffernan.
  • Wheaton would get on the board on in the second period with a goal from Bennink however The Pride would keep answer back with 4 goals themselves.
  • Wheaton would try there best in period 3 to get back in the game scoring two goals, but The Prides offense was just too much to handle as they added another 5 goals to secure the comfortable victory.
Game 2
Inside The Numbers
  • Freshman Sam Heffernan (Carmel, Ind./Zionsville Community High) and Junior Kevin Pietrucha led The Pride with three goals.
  • Zarren Zafiro (Williams Bay, Wis./Williams Bay HS), Luke Hoffman (Valpo, Ind./Valpo), Aiden Boukal (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel HS), Nate Allerding (Munster, Ind./Munster), and Michael Deady (St. John, Ind./Bishop Noll HS) all each contributed two goals.
  • Brendan Kerrick (St. John, Ind./Lake Central HS) and Cole Bocock also contributed a goal.
  • Jake Kiebles (Alsip, Ill./Alan B. Shepard), Vincent Didonato, and Alexander Broschek each split time in the goal for The Pride.
  • Warner Mehl played all 60 minutes in the goal for Wheaton.
The Breakdown
  • The Pride would pick up where the left off yesterday as they scored 6 goals in the first period.
  • Wheaton would end up scoring there only goals in period two as they added 4.
  • The Pride would shutdown any hopes of a comeback however as they added 8 goals in period two.
  • The Pride would cap off this dominating victory by adding 4 more goals in period three to secure the 18-4 victory.
