ACHA DIII Hockey stumbles in home series vs. #18 Indiana

The Purdue Northwest ACHA D3 Hockey team fell in both games of their weekend series against Indiana University. Game 1 on Friday night ended with a score of 13-3, and Game 2 on Saturday evening, 12-2.

Game 1 
Inside the Numbers
  • Freshman Gabriel Galvez (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle), Senior Nicholas Anthony, and Sophomore Aiden Boukal (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel HS) all scored a goal for the Pride.
  • Junior Brett Bandstra (Schererville, Ind./Lake Central) and Senior Michael Deady (St. John, Ind./Bishop Noll HS) each dished out an assist for the Pride.
  • Bo Armstrong led Indiana University with for goals.
  • Junior Vincent Didonato and Senior Zander Zafiro (Williams Bay, Wis,/Morris) split time in the goal for the Pride.
  • Nicklas Allen played all 60 minutes in the goal for Indiana.
The Breakdown
  • Indiana took the lead at the end of the first period with a goal from Bo Armstrong.
  • The Hoosiers would explode for seven goals in period two.
  • Purdue Northwest would finally get on the board in period three with goals from Freshman Gabriel Galvez (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle), Senior Nicholas Anthony, and Sophomore Aiden Boukal (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel HS). 
  • The Prides offense however would not be able to get them back in the game as Indiana would add 5 more insurance goals to secure the 13-3 victory.
Game 2
Inside The Numbers
  • Freshman Cody Graniczny (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) and Junior Kevin Pietrucha lead the Pride with a goal each.
  • Junior Brendan Kerrick (St. John, Ind./Lake Central HS), Junior Kevin Pietrucha, and Freshman Jacob Lee (Osceola, Ind./Penn) each dished out an assist.
  • Junior Vincent Didonato and Sophomore Alexander Broschek split time in the goal for the Pride.
  • Brandon Macdonald Surman lead Indiana with two goals and two assists.
The Breakdown
  • Indiana took the lead at the end of the first period with a goal from Misha Savin.
  • Cody Graniczny (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) would get the Pride on the board in the second period however the Hoosiers would add on four goals.
  • Kevin Pietrucha would add to the Pride's scoring in period 3 but the Hoosiers would put the game out of reach in period three with eight goals to secure the victory.
