The GLIAC pre-season polls were released and the PNW women's volleyball team was projected to finish in 10th place. Despite the ranking, there is growing optimism in the Pride gym as new coaches Sean and Mallory Douglas have brought in 13 new faces to go along with 7 returners to revitalize the program. Aly Dees and Claudia Ayerite (Fresno, Texas/Fort Bend Hightower (Fort Scott CC)) come from strong junior college programs to add more experience to join 5th year senior Bryanna Moonen (Franklin, Wis./Franklin HS) and last years starting middle blocker moved to opposite hitter Lauren Sanders (Indianapolis, Ind./Avon HS). The Pride also returns All-GLIAC Honorable Mention middle blocker Erica Brohm (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley HS) and last years starting setter Olivia Brooke (Logansport, Ind./Pioneer HS) who started as a freshman in every match last year. Junior Summer Clark (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Christian HS) has had a really strong offseason and looks to improve even more this fall. 
 

Along with the junior college transfers, the ten new freshmen bring a lot of talent and will be the cornerstone of this program for years to come. The recruiting pool was found nationally with four student athletes from the West Coast, two from Iowa and the rest from Illinois and locally in Indiana. "What I'm most impressed with from our freshman class is their ability to learn new things, stay focused during practice, but then immediately apply what they're learning into game like situations." said coach Sean Douglas. "As we build a new chapter for Purdue Northwest volleyball, this freshman class will bring some names talked about for years to come with their talent and competitiveness."  

 
Player Highlights:  
Erica Brohm (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley HS) started all 25 matches a year ago, finishing second on the team with 186 points and 157 kills. Olivia Brooke (Logansport, Ind./Pioneer HS), who was also in the starting line-up for every match in 2021, led the Pride with 602 assists.
