HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest women's tennis showed some grit and fought to the finish in Saturday's 4-3 setback at Michigan Tech.

PNW (5-13, 1-5 GLIAC) nearly pulled off its first win against Michigan Tech by jumping out to a promising start.

The Pride swept all three doubles matches for the early momentum and 1-0 lead in the contest.

Sienna Lopez (Glendale Heights, Ill.) and Patricia Dizon (Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator) narrowly defeated Nicole Ballach and Lauren Opalewski 7-5 in the No. 1-doubles flight while Oona Kintscher (Berlin, Germany) and Hayley Tsuen (Johannesburg, South Africa) had to go to a tiebreaker set to defeat Dominika Bobik abd Neva Manas 7-6 (7-5).

The duo of Salma Raslan (Cairo, Egypt) and Nicole Uzcategui (Doral, Fla.) took down Marina Fernandez and Chiara Heunz 6-2 in the No. 3 doubles flight.

In Singles action, the Pride picked up a pair of points in the top two flights with Lopez and Kintscher, respectively.

Tsuen took the first set of her No. 3 singles flight 6-4 over Bobik before falling 6-2 and 6-3 in the second and third sets.
