Women's Tennis drops hard-fought match at Davenport, 4-3

CALEDONIA, Mich. — The Purdue Northwest women's tennis team battled against Davenport before narrowly succumbing to defeat 4-3 on Saturday.

PNW (5-14, 1-7 GLIAC) finished its season placing just two spots out of qualifying for the GLIAC tournament.

The duo of Hayley Tsuen (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Oona Kintscher (Berlin, Germany) was able to perform up to challenge and take down their opponents at No. 2 Doubles, 6-3. However, Davenport would claim the all-important doubles point for the early 1-0 advantage.

Sienna Lopez (Glendale Heights, Ill.) got PNW its first team point when she won at No. 1 Singles with a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 victory over Willemien Coetzee.

Kintscher added a second point for the Pride in the No. 2 Singles match with a three-set victory over Isabella Carofano. Kintscher's 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Carofano was her fourth individual match victory in her last five attempts.

Unfortunately for PNW, the Panthers (9-17, 2-6 GLIAC) pulled out three victories in singles competiton and would end up finishing one spot ahead of the Pride in the GLIAC standing following the match.

Nicole Uzcategui (Doral, Fla.) completed the team scoring for PNW when she took down Charlotte Zhuwakini 6-4, 5-7, 10-8 in her final match of her career.
