QUINCY, Ill. — The Purdue University Northwest women's golf team recorded a team score of 346 in Monday's opening round at the Quincy Invitational, hosted at the Quincy Country Club.
PNW currently sits in fourth place among the five teams competing in the 36-hole event. The Pride are 12 strokes behind the host Quincy University for third place.
Senior
Libby Huston (Yale, Mich./Yale) fired a team-low 79 (+7) to lead the Pride lineup. She is currently six strokes off the lead and tied for third on the player leaderboard with Quincy's Hannah Maguire and Lewis' Kendall Farm. Maria Zrodowska of William Woods shot a tournament-low 73 (+1) in the first round.
Kaitlyn Valiska (New Lenox, Ill.) shot an 86 and is tied for 13th to finish with PNW's second-lowest round.
Taylor Martin (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger HS) and
Miriah Gabel (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington High School Central) carded a 90 and 91, respectively, while
Catherine Brzycki (Griffith, Ind.) recorded a 95.
Lewis University leads the team standings after posting a score of 320. The Flyers hold a five stroke lead over second-place William Woods University.
