ST. LOUIS — Bjorgvin Juliusson (Reykjavik, Iceland) won a marathon match at No. 3 Singles as the Purdue Northwest men's tennis squad fell 6-1 to Maryville University on Friday morning at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Juliusson defeated Yann Frezouls 2-1 (7-6. 4-6, 1-0 (13-11)) for the lone point for the Pride. He was also part of the No. 2-doubles flight with
Luca Kirchhoff (Wiesbaden, Germany) that defeated Frezouls and Jack Triggs 7-6 (8-6).
PNW (2-6) nearly opened the day with a point from doubles action, but two 6-4 losses in the remaining two doubles matches cemented a doubles victory for the Saints (3-3).
Miguel Agustin Flores Cepeda (Monterrey, Mexico) had a strong showing in the No. 1-singles flight before succumbing to a 2-1 (7-6. 2-6, 9-11) loss to Maryville's Mario Aleksic.

PNW returns to the friendly confines of the Park Forest Tennis Club on Saturday when the Pride welcome in NCAA Division I foe Chicago State. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST.
