Baylee Byford (Scipio, Ind.) and
Lauryn Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) both recorded their first goals of the season in non-conference play against the Lewis Flyers on Saturday. But, Purdue Northwest could not mount a comeback after the first half at Pepsi Field and ultimately fell 3-2.

Lewis improved to 2-0-0, while the Pride fell to 0-1-1.

Byford, a sophomore defender, scored her first collegiate goal in the 13th minute off of an assist by
Braidy Ceh (Huntley, Ill.) which put the Pride even with the Flyers at 1-1. However, shortly after, Lewis was able to move back in front with goals at the 23rd and 25th minute mark to lead 3-1.

Tillmon who is a sophomore forward for the Pride, also netted her first career goal and cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 30th minute.

After five goals in the first half, both teams stepped up in their defense in the final period.

Overall, PNW recorded 10 shots and four on goal but the Pride couldn't build enough momentum in the second half to find the equalizer.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Ashley Lovins (Huntley, Ill.) started in net and recorded five saves.

The Pride will look to turn it around on Wednesday as they host Roosevelt University at Dowling Park. Kickoff in Hammond is slated for 4 PM CDT.
