HOW IT HAPPENED
- PNW jumped ahead 2-0 in the first 20 minutes with both goals scored on headers less than two minutes apart.
- The Pride back line including Rylie Camp (Marne, Mich.), Allison Zimmer (Bourbonnais, Ill.), Anika Berg (Schererville, Ind.) and freshman keeper Mumaugh, were pressured early with Roosevelt's heavy possession but the Pride defenders were rock solid, and PNW would end up attempting six shots before Roosevelt could get one shot attempt off.
- The first Pride goal came in the 16th minute off a perfect cross delivered by Zimmer to the front of the net, where Hefty bounced it past the RU keeper on a header.
- Less than two minutes later, Berg redirected a free ball into the middle of the box where Schafer flicked a header shot over the keeper to the back post to put PNW in front 2-0.
- Kiana Chandler (Lowell, Ind.) barely missed a left-footed attempt off a rebound in the 20th minute, which slid just outside the right post.
- RU's Lola Arreola sliced the Pride lead to 2-1 in the 30th minute after capitalizing on a rebound shot opportunity following a Mumaugh save.
- The Lakers scored the equalizer with eight minutes until halftime.
- PNW dominated possession in the second half and finished the game with a 58% margin.
- Haneen Abdulla (Crown Point, Ind.) (48'), Lauryn Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) (53'), Emma Carter (Plainfield, Ill.) (57') and Reannah Soto (Merrillville, Ind.) (61') each had an unlucky result from decent shot attempts in the second half. All four attempts bounced off the frame.
- Lovins made a game-saving stop in the 76th minute when she dove to her right and made a two-handed grab on a shot attempt from straight on.
- PNW tallied three corner kicks in the OT period, but failed to capitalize on the set piece.
- RU's Gabi Christidis broke free and won the one-on-one breakaway for the game-winning goal with 20 seconds remaining in the first OT period. It was her second goal of the match.
