Pride come up short in comeback attempt against Lewis

Final Score: Lewis 3, PNW 2
Location: Hammond, Ind. (Pepsi Field at Dowling Park)
Records: PNW 0-1-0, Lewis 1-0-0

After trailing 2-0 at halftime, Purdue Northwest scored twice in a span of three minutes to even the score early in the second half.

Ryan Moran, who made his PNW debut on Thursday, put the Pride on the board with a short-range goal in the 57th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Martin Murillo assisted on the first PNW goal of the season with a nice through ball off a free kick.

In the 60th minute, Isaiah Nieves netted the equalizer and was the beneficiary of an outstanding defensive play by Arnas Miskinis deep in the Lewis end. Miskinis stole a misplay by the Lewis left backer in the box and touched the ball past the Lewis keeper to feed Nieves making a run down the left side. Nieves finished in stride with his left foot and logged his 13th career goal.

Unfortunately, the Pride couldn't push another goal across after the visitors regained the lead in the 74th minute.

PNW fell to 1-3 in the series against Lewis – falling for the first time against the Flyers at Dowling Park.

Raul Garrido Garcia made the start in goal for the Pride and recorded four saves in the opener.

Four different Pride players registered two or more shots in the match. Nieves led the way with four shots.

The Flyers were paced by Aris Oluwatuyi (33'), Dimitri Huitron (43') and Nathaniel Campbell (74').

Will Maurice picked up the win in goal for Lewis. He played the entire first half and re-entered the match early in the second period following the PNW comeback attempt.

PNW recorded a 6-1 advantage in corner kick attempts, while Lewis held the edge in shots on goal, 7-4.
