PNW knocks off Findlay in non-conference match, 2-1

The short story: Purdue Northwest came from behind to defeat Findlay 2-1 in the final non-conference match of the schedule. After the teams were tied at halftime, senior Ryan Moran scored the game-winner less than two minutes into the second half and the Pride held on the rest of the way.
 
QUICK FACTS
  • Isaiah Nieves tied his single-game career high with two assists. He previously logged a pair of assists against Lewis in his sophomore year.
  • Nieves leads the team with seven points this season and has logged at least one point in five consecutive games dating back to the Spring 2021 season. He has 39 points in 39 career games played.
  • Moran scored his second goal in three games this season. He sits second on the team with five points.
  • Senior Pau Aran scored his first goal in a PNW uniform, which came in the 13th minute to even the score at 1-1. Aran is the third different Pride player to score a goal this season.
  • Nieves and junior Ismael Contreras assisted on the Aran goal. It was the second career assist for Contreras.
  • Junior goalkeeper Sebastian Contreras earned the win in his first start of the season. He recorded two saves against 11 shots faced.
  • Findlay out-shot PNW 11-4 but only three Oiler shots were on frame.
  • UF's Zach Lauron broke the scoreless tie in the ninth minute to put the visitors ahead briefly.
  • PNW held a 5-3 advantage in corner kick tries with all five coming in the first period.
UP NEXT
The Pride will open conference play next week with a pair of home games against Upper Iowa (Friday) and St. Cloud State (Sunday).
