WESTVILLE, Ind. – Purdue Northwest dismantled East-West University in the second half and cruised to its first victory of the season, 105-63, Tuesday night inside H.D. Kesling Gymnasium. The Pride poured in 63 points during the second period and featured seven players reaching double digits in the scoring column. The 42-point win is the second-largest margin of victory in PNW men's basketball history.
HEAD COACH BOOMER ROBERTS:
"We focused on simply competing tonight, and the guys took it to heart and really came out and got after it," head coach
Boomer Roberts said. "Logan, Ant, Z, and Jyro all played well, and we received great contributions from the bench. We were able to control both the paint and the glass, and we need to be more of that type of team moving forward."
STAT LEADERS
- Jyrus Freels notched his first double-double of the season with 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed 10 boards
- Piotr Gago also logged his first career double-double as a member of the Pride with 12 points and seven boards
- Anthony Irvin tied for the team-high of 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including three treys. He stuffed the stat sheet with six boards, three assists, three steals and a block
- Logan Phillips scored 15 points with five boards, three assists and a pair of steals
- Kai Steinman registered a career-high 13 points
- Caleb Zurliene and Sangolay Njie both chipped in with 10 points, and the pair combined for 15 boards and seven assists
