Biography

  • First PNW Pride men's basketball player in school history to earn All-GLIAC recognition (Second Team 2019-20; All-Preseason 2020-21).
  • Freels enters the 2020-21 season with 1,342 career points scored and 681 career rebounds combined at Dodge City and Purdue Northwest.
Junior Season at Purdue Northwest (2019-20)
  • Selected All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team in his first season at PNW.
  • Freels started 27 of 28 games while leading the team in overall minutes played. He led the Pride in scoring in 15 contests in 2019-20.
  • He led the Pride in several categories including scoring (14.8 ppg), rebounding (6.3) and field-goal percentage (56.1).
  • Closed the season ranked 15th in the GLIAC in scoring and 17th in rebounds.
  • Freels produced four double-doubles including a 25-point, 12-rebound performance in his Pride debut against William Jewell (11/8/19). He had two double-double outings in league play with both in road games (1/23/20 at LSSU, 2/13/20 at WSU).
  • Scored a season-high 29 points in the final game of the regular season against Parkside, shooting 14 of 19 from the floor overall (2/27/20).
  • Hauled down a season-high 12 rebounds in both of his double-doubles during non-conference play.
  • He dished out a career-high four assists twice during the season, and most recently in PNW’s one-point overtime loss at Wayne State (2/13/20) when he posted a double-double effort with 24 points and 10 boards. 
Juco at Dodge City (KS) (Freshman & Sophomore)
  • Freels played two seasons for the Conquistadors in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
  • Named to the All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Honorable Mention Team.
  • Played in 61 career games and made 45 career entries in the starting lineup.
  • Averaged a double-double his sophomore season, leading KJCC Division I in points (19.9) and rebounds (10.0) per game.
  • 23 career double-doubles including 19 in his breakout sophomore season.
  • Earned KJCCC Player of the Week twice during his sophomore season, including after scoring a career-high 37 points on 15-of-18 shooting and grabbing 11 rebounds in the season opener.
  • Posted a career-high 19 rebounds to go with 28 points at Lee College (11/20/18).
  • Registered a 29-point, 14-board output against nationally-ranked Barton (1/16/19).
  • Freels averaged 11.2 points and 6.7 rebounds as a true freshman in 2017-18.
  • Logged a career-high three assists twice during his freshman season.
Prep Career at F.J. Reitz
  • Named All-Southern Indiana Athletic Conference honorable mention as a senior.
  • Averaged 17.5 points while shooting 58 percent from the field and pulled down 7.2 rebounds per game during senior campaign.
  • Helped Reitz reach the regional final for the second straight season as the squad finished with a 22-5 record his junior year.
  • Played for long-time Reitz boys basketball head coach Mike Adams.
  • Freels also played football and caught a pair of touchdowns his senior year.
