LEMONT, Ill. – The Purdue Northwest women's golf team wrapped up play at the Flyer Intercollegiate in 11th place on Tuesday. The Pride shaved off seven strokes after recording a 340 in the second round at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club to finish with a total team score of 687 over the 36-hole event.
Senior
Libby Huston led the Pride with a team-low 163 following rounds of 81 and 82. Huston tied for 26th overall on the playerboard.
PNW freshmen
Halie Wolf and
Kaitlyn Valiska each played steady through the final round in contributing to the Pride lineup. Wolf finished tied for 46th with a 172 while Valiska was one stroke behind with a 173 which tied her for 48th place.
Sophomores
Miriah Gabel and
Catherine Brzycki displayed the most improvement from the first round to the final round for the Pride golfers. Gabel rebounded nicely after taking off 11 strokes on Tuesday to finish with an 84 and overall tournament score of 179. Brzycki shave off three strokes to finish with a second-round mark of 98.
The tournament host Lewis claimed the team title with an overall team score of 624, while McKendree's Imogen Rafferty won medalist honors with a tournament-low 146 (+2).
