Pride escape with a result in hard-fought road match

The Purdue Northwest men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw Sunday morning in double overtime against Saginaw Valley State. The match was hosted at Freeland High School in Freeland, Mich. With the result, PNW remains two points ahead of SVSU for third place in the GLIAC standings with one match remaining in the regular season.

In a hard-fought and very even match, both teams had opportunities to score late in the second half and during extra time. SVSU held a 7-6 edge in shots on target while PNW recorded a 16-14 advantage in overall shots during the contest.

Goalkeeper Sebastian Contreras notched seven saves for the Pride, while midfielder Isaiah Nieves tallied four shots on frame.

UP NEXT
The Pride host Davenport on Thursday, Nov. 4 in the regular-season finale. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. CT at Dowling Park.
