ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Purdue Northwest volleyball team fell in straight sets to homestanding Grand Valley State on Sunday afternoon by scores of 25-13, 31-19 & 25-13.
PNW (1-12, 0-5 GLIAC) had a chance to win the second set on two occasions, which would have evened the match at 1-1 instead of facing a 2-0 deficit. However, the Lakers were able to fend off the Pride rally.
A kill by
Bryanna Moonen put the Pride ahead 26-25 in Set 2, but the Lakers grabbed quick momentum with back-to-back points. Then, the two teams traded the five points down the stretch before Grand Valley (9-5, 5-1 GLIAC) recorded the set-winner on back-to-back kills by Abby Graham.
Riley Kraiza led the Pride with eight kills, six digs and an ace, as setter
Olivia Brooke handed out 24 assists with seven digs. Moonen finished with seven kills while
Erica Brohm had six.
Summer Clark stuffed the stat sheet with five kills, two aces and eight digs.
Sammie Abruzzo led PNW with 14 digs.
