HAMMOND, Ind. – The Purdue Northwest women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Michigan Tech Saturday inside the Fitness & Recreation Center. The Huskies won by final set scores of 25-15, 25-17 & 25-7.
Bryanna Moonen (Franklin, Wis.) and
Lauren Sanders (Indianapolis, Ind.) led PNW with four kills apiece while
Summer Clark (Chicago, Ill.) posted 11 digs and three kills.
Five Pride players tallied at least five digs including
Alexis Wade (Union Mills, Ind.) with nine,
Riley Kraiza (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and
Caleigh Smith (Marengo, Iowa) each with six, and
Olivia Brooke (Logansport, Ind.) with five. Brooke notched 14 assists from her setter position.
PNW hung with the league-leading Huskies in the second set, and stayed within three when a Kraiza kill and MTU error made it 19-16. But MTU stole the momentum back and closed the set on a 6-1 run. The Huskies used that to cruise through the final set.
