Pride Drops Close Contest Against Northern Michigan Wildcats

PNW fell 57-53 on the road against the NMU Wildcats

NORTHERN MICHIGAN 57, PURDUE NORTHWEST 53
Purdue University Northwest Women's Basketball continued their series on the road by taking on the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Saturday, February 8. In a back-and-forth contest, the game ended with the Wildcats claiming the narrow win with a final score of 57-53.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pride started off strong, leading the Wildcats 13-11 at the end of the first quarter. What followed was a game in which the lead changed 14 times. Taking 44 shots from the field, including 21 from downtown, PNW held the Wildcats to 49 and 15 attempted shots, respectively. It was in the third quarter that the Black and Gold truly shined, however, shooting 73% in field goals and 67% in 3-pointers.
 
WHO LED THE WAY FOR THE PRIDE
Danielle Nennig led the way for the Black and Gold with 20 points, tied for her season-high, shooting 67% from the field and draining four three-pointers while also pulling down four rebounds. Savaya Brockington added 15 points, including an efficient 6-11 from the field and 1-3 from three. Anjel Galbraith led the charge in rebounds, recording seven while also scoring seven points. Bayley Goodman also chipped in with a three-pointer during the second quarter. 

 
TEAM STATS
The Pride finished with an overall shooting percentage of 43% (19-44) and 43% (9-21) from three, holding the Wildcats to 47% (23-49) and 27% (4-15), respectively. The Black and Gold connected on all six of their free-throw attempts, scored 14 points in the paint, nine off turnovers and three bench points.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
After this afternoon's defeat, PNW will continue their series on the road on Thursday, February 13, when they will face off against the Wayne State Warriors in Detroit. This will be the second contest between these two programs in this season, the first being a 71-59 win for Wayne State in Hammond on January 18. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m (CST).
