UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- The Purdue University Northwest Men's Basketball team started off the New Year on the road against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals, falling with a final score of 87-74.
"We've got to make more winning plays to win in the GLIAC," said Head Coach
Boomer Roberts. "It's the small things that are hurting us. Turnovers, missed layups, missed defensive assignments that we execute in practice. Until we start doing those things consistently, we're going to keep coming up short. We've yet to play a conference game at home, so I'm thankful that the next five are at home."
The Pride were led against the Cardinals by
Timothy Gilmore who put up 18 points, putting in 25 minutes of play while bringing down four rebounds, one block and one steal.
Anthony Barnard recorded 12 points while
Jordan Doss brought home 10. PNW put up 42 points from the paint compared to the Cardinals' 40, shooting 27-62 in field goals.
The Pride will next be in action at home on Saturday, January 4 when they will host the Northwood University Timberwolves at the Westville campus. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. (CT).
