HAMMOND, Ind. -- The Purdue Northwest Women's Soccer team took their first win of the season, a 3-2 nail-bitter, against the Robert Morris University (Ill.) Eagles on Saturday, September 14, at Dowling Park.
Midfielder Sydney Hanson (Alma, Mich./Alma) scored two goals for the Pride and Forward Avery Fitzgerald (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) scored the go-ahead third goal in the 81st minute off the assist from Kaci Pampreen (Livonia, Mich./Churchill). Forward Hailey Arlis (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) assisted on Hanson's first goal in the eighth minute.
Pride Goalkeeper Leonie Heck (Roesrath, Germany/Albertus-Magnus) recorded two saves in her 45 minutes of action, as did Goalkeeper Bridget Grady (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln Way East) after taking over in the second period.
"Being able to come back from behind and take this win was a huge boost for our confidence," said Head Coach Jake Truty. "It's great to have this win now under our belts as we get closer to conference play. We just have to keep moving forward and giving everything we've got."
The Pride will next be in action on Tuesday, September 17 against Albion. Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. (CT) at Dowling Park.
