GRIFFITH, Ind. -- Sophomore Dru Kennedy (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) won at No. 6 singles, junior Jonluke Passett (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandberg) and senior Mauricio Villacres (Guayaquil, Ecuador) won at No. 3 doubles as the Purdue Northwest men's tennis team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.
Kennedy won at No. 6 singles against DU's Matt Leatherman, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0. Passett and Villacres picked up the victory at No. 3 doubles against Davenport's Michael Digby and Matt Leatherman, 7-5.
Davenport won the other two matches at doubles competition to go ahead 1-0. PNW put up a fight at No. 2 doubles as Leon Kah (Munich, Germany) and Kennedy lost 7-5.
Passett fought hard at No. 4 singles but DU's Johnny Bulmer came back after dropping the first set, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6. Villacres had a battle at No. 5 singles but lost to Mike Digby, 7-5, 6-3.
Gisy won two games in the first set and three in the second but DU's Remy Johanson won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Gregory Kvint (Philadephia, Penn./Lower Moreland) picked up a couple of games in each of his sets at No. 3 singles but suffered the defeat, 6-2, 6-2.
PNW returns to action Saturday, April 6 as the Pride host Michigan Tech starting at 10 a.m. at Park Forest Tennis and Fitness Club.
